Gokyo Lake Trek - Accommodation

The traveler will stay at a standard 3 Star best hotel in Kathmandu. The hotel is Hotel Thamel or Similar in category. However, standard tourist teahouse lodge are provided en-route the trekking trail. The lodge en route the trekking trail generally have twin sharing rooms with shared bathrooms. Bed includes a warm mattress, a pillow, and a blanket. Optionally, you can carry your sleeping bag to ensure warmer in high altitudes.

    Gokyo Lake Trek - Detail Itinerary

    01

    Day 01: Arrival day (1,300m/4,264 ft)

    One of our representatives from Himalayan Hospitality Treks and Tours receives you at your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A private vehicle will transfer you to your hotel in Thamel.  Then we will have a detailed discussion and briefing about the trek.

    Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)

    The morning of Kathmandu begins with the early rays of the sun. The first day Kathmandu Exploration program begins with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site and some significant places. Sightseeing starts from Pashupatinath – a very prominent Shiva temple of Kathmandu. Second sight is the astounding shrine of Boudhanath Stupa. The mesmerizing view of colorful prayer flags makes the stupa more attractive. You can have a luscious cup of tea or coffee from the rooftop restaurant nearby. Next is the famous site of Swayambhunath –  popularly recognized as the Monkey Temple. You can see the breathtaking view of the Kathmandu Valley from the top of Swayambhunath. After that, we will set out for Kathmandu Durbar Square – the historical, cultural, and religious center of Kathmandu valley. You can buy souvenirs for your friends and family while we have a walk around the busy roads of Thamel.

    Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding. (2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

    After breakfast we will drive from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport, Ramechhap, The direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is paused due to the renovations going on Tribhuvan International Airport. After reaching Manali Airport, we will catch a flight to Lukla – the starting point of the trek. The spectacular tiny Lukla Airport is amazing. We will begin our trek from Lukla to the beautiful valley of Phakding. The pathway to Phakding is stunning. Furthermore, you will adore the beauty of the pathway with the sacred and beautifully carved Mani walls. Overnight stay at Phakding.

    Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar. (3440m/11,283ft), 5-6 hrs walk

    We will begin our trek after we have our breakfast. The major attraction of the trek is the attractive steel suspension bridge over the glacial rivers like Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi. Furthermore, the well-preserved alpine forest across the Monjo valley replenishes your mood. The Monjo valley lies just below the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, which is one of the World Heritage Sites enlisted by UNESCO. We continue our trek to the awesome valley of Namche Bazaar.  Namche bazaar – Gateway to the majestic mountain Mt. Everest, is a very famous trade section. You can see the crowd of people in Namche Bazaar roaming around for trade or for food and travel. Furthermore, you can buy souvenirs from Namche Bazaar.

    Day 05: Acclimatize day

    Today, we will take a rest for acclimatization. Besides rest, visit the museum of Namche, hike to the upper hills of Syangboche or explore the local culture of the Sherpa people are the major activities that you can do. The trek to the upper hills of Syangboche grants you the overwhelming scene of the solemn mountain peaks such as Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Kangtega, and Ama Dablam. Furthermore, you can visit and explore Namche Bazaar where you can enjoy various local foods, surf the internet and explore the Sherpa culture. Besides this, you can also visit the beautiful Sherpa village – Thame and the monastery around with the beautiful scenes and the aesthetic vibes around.

    Day 06: Trek to Dole. (4,200m/13,779ft)

    After having breakfast, we will ascend the uphills. The trails of the uphills leading to the amazing way of Mogla Pass. The breathtaking views of the Rhododendron forest on the pathway accompany you to the upper hills from Namche along with the crystal clear glacial rivers. You feel refreshed during the trek with the incredible panoramic views of the mountains. If you look for furthermore, you can see the beautiful deer of the Himalayas, yaks, Himalayan goats, and Danphe (national bird of Nepal).

    Overnight stay in Dole.

    Day 07: Trek to Machherma. (4,470m/14,665), 5-6 hrs walk

    After having a hot breakfast and mouth-watering Himalayan tea, we will begin our trek. The trek embarks with the winding uphills.  The overwhelming view of the mountain peaks like ho-Oyo, Thamserku, and Kangtega are seen on our pathway. Besides this, you will be astonished to see the mind-blowing view of the Machermo Khola flowing. It drains into the Dudh Koshi as it flows across the village of Kyajo Ri and Pharilapche.

    Day 08: Trek to Gokyo (4,790m/15,715ft), 4 hrs walk

    We continue our expedition to Gokyo. We can see the views of the dignified Himalayan peaks like Kangtega, Thamserku, and Cho-Oyu. Furthermore, we can see the marvelous  Ngozumpa Glacier. The path to Gokyo becomes steeper and narrower as we ascend towards Gokyo lake. We will spend our time in the tiny Gokyo valley. The magnificent view of the Gokyo lake and the neighboring lakes are splendid.

    Day 09: Explore day

    We will continue to explore the Gokyo Valley after having a hot breakfast in the cold wind.  The Gokyo Ri is the major attraction of the trek. You can see the breathtaking views of the glorious mountain peaks like Mt. Everest, Makalu. Furthermore, we will trek up to the fourth lake and fifth lake of the Gokyo valley. The magnificent views of the glaciers and the panoramic scenes of the mountain peaks are amazing. We return our way back to Gokyo and spend our night there.

    Day 10: Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,779ft), 4-5 hrs walk

    Today we will descend downwards from Gokyo. We will trek from Gokyo to dole. The marvelous pathway will replenish your mood besides the draining journey.  The beautiful glacial river above which lies the steel suspension bridge full of colorful prayer flags is overwhelming. Overnight stay at Dole.

    Day 11: Trek to Khumjung (3,580m/11,780ft), 5-6 hrs walk

    The beautiful Dole village is more lively in the spring season. Varieties of flowers bloom during the season and make the environment more amazing. We will trek down to Khumjung village from Dole. The dazzling Khumjung village is beautiful with the lavishing monasteries around. Furthermore, the shrines of the monasteries are amazing with the very marvellous colourful prayer flags floating in the wind.  You will be pleased with the marvellous posh area of the Khumjung village. Overnight stay at Khumjung village.

    Day 12: Trek to Monjo (2,850m/9,348ft), 6-7 hrs walk

    After having breakfast,  we will continue our trek downhill from Khumjung village.  The amazingly beautiful trails lead us to the marvelous hills of Syangboche. Moreover, you will see the magnificent views of the splendid Himalayan peaks from the hills of Syangboche. Then we will descend downhills and reach the awesome capital of Sherpas – Namche Bazaar via the beautiful village of Thame. Furthermore, you will see the glacial river- Bhote Koshi, fabulously flowing below. Along with the gorgeous views of the scenery, we will continue our trek and reach Monjo. The Monjo is a small village of the Khumbu region and it lies just below the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Overnight stay at Monjo village

    Day 13: Trek to Lukla(2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

    We will trek to Lukla on the last day of the trek. The downhills become easier and busier. Furthermore, the magnificent views of the mountains peaks and the well preserved alpine forest are the major attraction of the pathway to Lukla. Lukla is the starting point as well as the ending point of our trek to the splendid Gokyo lake. Overnight stay at Lukla.

    Day 14: Fly back to Ramechhap and drive back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

    Today we will catch our flight from Lukla to Manthali Airport of Ramechhap as scheduled. Moreover, you will feel delighted to see the thrilling pathways and the uphills and downhills that you ascended and descended,  from the flight. We will drive back to Kathmandu from Ramechhap. You can rest in the hotel. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

    Day 15: Final departure.

    Day of Departure. Today you will fly back from Kathmandu. One of our representatives will come to escort you to the airport from the hotel before three hours of flight.

    Day 11: Trek to Khumjung (3,580m/11,780ft), 5-6 hrs walk

    The beautiful Dole village is more lively in the spring season. Varieties of flowers bloom during the season and make the environment more amazing. We will trek down to Khumjung village from Dole. The dazzling Khumjung village is beautiful with the lavishing monasteries around. Furthermore, the shrines of the monasteries are amazing with the very marvellous colourful prayer flags floating in the wind.  You will be pleased with the marvellous posh area of the Khumjung village. Overnight stay at Khumjung village.

    Day 12: Trek to Monjo (2,850m/9,348ft), 6-7 hrs walk

    After having breakfast,  we will continue our trek downhill from Khumjung village.  The amazingly beautiful trails lead us to the marvelous hills of Syangboche. Moreover, you will see the magnificent views of the splendid Himalayan peaks from the hills of Syangboche. Then we will descend downhills and reach the awesome capital of Sherpas – Namche Bazaar via the beautiful village of Thame. Furthermore, you will see the glacial river- Bhote Koshi, fabulously flowing below. Along with the gorgeous views of the scenery, we will continue our trek and reach Monjo. The Monjo is a small village of the Khumbu region and it lies just below the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Overnight stay at Monjo village

    Day 13: Trek to Lukla(2,652m/8,700ft) 4-5 hrs walk

    We will trek to Lukla on the last day of the trek. The downhills become easier and busier. Furthermore, the magnificent views of the mountains peaks and the well preserved alpine forest are the major attraction of the pathway to Lukla. Lukla is the starting point as well as the ending point of our trek to the splendid Gokyo lake. Overnight stay at Lukla.

    Day 14: Fly back to Ramechhap and drive back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

    Today we will catch our flight from Lukla to Manthali Airport of Ramechhap as scheduled. Moreover, you will feel delighted to see the thrilling pathways and the uphills and downhills that you ascended and descended,  from the flight. We will drive back to Kathmandu from Ramechhap. You can rest in the hotel. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

    Day 15: Final departure.

    Day of Departure. Today you will fly back from Kathmandu. One of our representatives will come to escort you to the airport from the hotel before three hours of flight.

    The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek is typically enjoyed during March and May, and from late September to December. However, other adventurers like to tackle it between February and early September.
