he Indigenous Peoples Trek is a newly identified trek through a land of wide-ranging cultural diversity and scenic landscape with astonishing mountain panoramas. Indigenous Peoples Trek passes through the mid hills of Nepal and is at a relatively lower elevation than some of the other popular treks and suitable even in the winter months.
Indigenous Peoples Trek begins near the high point and then makes a pleasant top-down trek to the finishing location near the Sun Koshi River. Along the way, along with the blend of cultures and people, the trail visits caves, mountain viewpoints, famous Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and even a fishing village among many other highlights. The trail was officially launched in 2009 AD and has therefore seen fewer tourists compared to the more popular trails and it preserves its original mystique, while allowing closer connections to the people and landscape.
Indigenous Peoples Trek begins with a scenic drive through fertile villages and rural farmland of Nepal. Himalayan peaks are seen along the ride to the trek start point of Dunghe. From here, it is a short trek up to a magnificent viewpoint of Sailung, site local festivals with a broad panorama of the snowy mountains. Sailung (3147 m/10,325 ft) is the high point of trek, and the surrounding hills are full of plants used in herbal medicine. We then descend through picturesque, rural villages following an age-old way of life.
The people along the Indigenous Peoples Trail include Tamang, Thami, Tamang, Majhi, Newar, and Yolmo. The Thami culture is considered endangered with a population in Nepal less than 30,000 only. The Mahji make a living by fishing and boat transport. We pass through serene foothills and the visit the Hindu temple of Kanda devi with majestic viewpoints along the way. Eventually, the trail descends to the cool waters of the Sun Kosi River, the endpoint of the Indigenous Peoples Trek.

This is the arrival day of guest in Kathmandu hotels and they are picked up from Airport and transferred to the Hotel in Thamel.
On sightseeing day, usually it is organized whole sightseeing day so that they get chance to explore Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley.
Early morning after breakfast, we will drive 54 km to reach the small town of Mude on bank of Koshi River. The scenic bus ride will be around 5 hours long. We will drive through Araniko Rajmarga and reach Dolalghat. Here, we can take a little break and enjoy freshly cooked river fishes. From here we will drive through small settlement of Khadichau and reach Mude. On reaching Mude, we will again take a short refreshment break and trek to Deurali. We will trek through soft hills and trails to reach Deurali. It will take around 3 hours.
We will trek along a slender trail to reach the Sherpa village of Kholakharka. It will be around 6 hours trek, moderately easy. We will reach the summit of Thulo Sailung to catch the sunrise over the glorious eastern Himalayan. Standing 3,146 m tall the summit provides splendid view of the Annapurna, Ganesh Himal and Langtang, Everest and Kanchenjunga range! We can also view the lush green Mahabharata range and Sunkoshi River snaking down to lowlands of Terai on the Southern side. We will spend the night in the KholaKharka community center
During this five hour trek we will trek through a small beautiful settlement called Rajbhir. The trek will mostly be downhill for today. We will go across the beautiful Sailung Forest,that houses exotic species of trees, shrubs and birds! We can visit the Rajveer Monastery and receive blessings from the respected Lamas. We will pass through two other villages of Sherpas and Tamangs respectively. We can visit the Gompas in both village. We will pass numerous Gompas, Chortens, Prayer Flags and Mani stones to reach Surkey. Overnight in homestay.
We will observe the Thami culture program at Tinghare Village before entering the valley of Doramba. It will take us around 4 hours to reach this valley. The trail navigates along forested hillside to the green terraced fields of Doramba. Overnight in homestay
After a refreshing hike out of Doramba, we will hike to Agleshwari Danda,a sacred Hindu shrine. From here, we can enjoy the beautiful view of the Mahabharata range and magnificent Himalayans looming over it. The trek will be around 5 hours long for the day. Overnight in homestay.
After viewing the beautiful sunrise on Himalayan from Khandadevi we will hike towards the valley of Dongme. We will hike through long ridge of pine forest. The trek will be relatively easy today and 5 hours long. Overnight in a camp.
Before descending to the village of Lubughar, we will again enjoy the beautiful sunrise on Himalayans form Dongme. We will walk along the massive Sunkoshi River. On arriving Lubughat, we will meet the Majhi people. Majhi literally means fisherman in Nepali. We will observe the lifestyle and tradition of the Majhi people. After the 4 hours trek, overnight in home stay.
We will cross the big river in Majhi boats and exciting suspension bridges to reach Nepalthok. From there we will catch a bus to Dhulikhel. After two hours of scenic bus ride we will reach the medieval town of Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel is renowned for its distinctive Newari culture and the view of Himalayan. We can go around the old town and visit centuries old houses that showcases spectacular Newari craftsmanship. We can visit the historic temples while here. Overnight in a Newari Homestay
