Namobuddha Hike Day Tour is one of the nearest short Tour from the Kathmandu Valley which is most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites located 40 km southeast of Kathmandu valley. It lies in Kavrepalanchok district. The tour starts with a 1 and half- 2 hour drive to Kathmandu through the village of Panauti. We will then start an easy hike through several small villages and paddy fields. We will encounter local villagers’ engaged in their daily life of cultivating in the fields. It is is beautiful, quiet and pure place. The environment is clean with fresh, cool and healthy natural air, which makes it the right place for meditation and practice. You can view beautiful sunrise and sunset from the hill. You can also visit famous Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery where is more than 250 monks reside today. In spite of being close to the capital, this area still has typical Nepali rural and lifestyle.
The hike is a 1hour uphill walk to reach the wonderful stupa of Namo Buddha. The main Stupa at the hill top is world heritage monuments of UNESCO from where visitors can enjoy the great views of mountains and green fields. Namo Buddha means “Greetings to the Lord Buddha”. Buddhist mythology contains an interesting story related to this place depicting as a great symbol of human sacrifice at its highest level.
According to Buddhism, Lord Buddha in his previous life was born as Prince Mahasattva, youngest son of King Maharatha. One day himself and his two elder brothers were passing through forest while hunting. They found a tigress with her cubs. She and her cubs could hardly move as they were weak from starvation. He was scrutinized by their pitiable situation. So, before he could reach his destination far away from the forest, the kind Prince Mahasattva went back to the tiger and offered them his flesh and blood to save them. Later, his two brothers returned back to the same place, but they saw only his bones and hairs. In his honour the King and Queen buried a small casket covered with seven kinds of jewels in which they laid his bones and built a stupa over the place which became very popular among the Buddhist and Hindu people. The whole area is covered with sacred flags on the top of a small hill

Journey starts from Thamel. Our guide will pick you up at your hotel around 7 am in the morning and drive for an hour to Dhulikhel, where the hike will begin.
The hiking trail from Dhulikhel goes through the jungle and other smaller settlements. We will reach the monastery, eat our lunch, and explore the surroundings.
After that, we will hike down to Panauti, another typical ancient Newari town. We will travel through the forest and through the magnificent rice fields. After spending some time touring the area, we will return to Kathmandu before the sunsets.
