Overview of Pikey Peak Trek

Pikey Peak Trek is one of the lesser-known Everest Region itineraries. The hike is very short, and the beginning and terminus are both within a day’s drive of Kathmandu. In 4 days, a physically fit hiker may finish the full trip. A trekker, on the other hand, may finish the trek in 6 days without difficulty. Several Buddhist sites may be visited along the journey (monasteries, gompas, and stupas). Similarly, if you only have a limited amount of time, this is the ideal journey to do to see the Everest region. This is also Sir Edmund Hillary’s preferred route.

Pikey Peak Trek’s paths provide breathtaking views of the Number Himal range and Mt. Everest. It is easier to complete since it connects the lower section of the Everest area. The path, according to many prior trekkers, has the greatest view of Mt. Everest. Take your time to consider your options and make a decision.

Highlights of Pikey Peak Trek

  • Mt. Everest and the surrounding peaks are best seen from this vantage point.
  • Enjoy the Everest View Trek, which is less difficult, easy, and short.
  • From Pikey Peak, take in unrivaled views.

Best Time to visit

Spring and Fall is the best season to trek in the Himalayas in Nepal. Therefore, spring and fall would be the best time to go for Pikey Peak Trek. However, it can be done even during the months of winter.  It is always best to avoid this trek during the monsoon as it gets wet in this region.

Where to start?

The Pikey Peak trekking is a circuit trail that circumambulates the pikey peak region. Travelers can start the trek from three alternative trailheads. The first option is to drive from Kathmandu to Dhap and start hiking. As a second alternative, directly fly to Phaplu from Kathmandu and start trekking. Thirdly, you can drive to Junbesi from Kathmandu.  While starting from Phaplu or Junbesi, trek concludes at Dhap whereas starting at Dhap concludes at Junbesi making an anticlockwise circuit. Here, our standard itinerary follows the program with Kathmandu- Junibesi drive and start trekking to conclude at Dhap. Then driving back to Kathmandu

Choosing: Fly or Drive

If you have a short time and want to do a short trek in the Everest region, this would be the best choice. Since this is less explored by the trekkers, it is a unique trek. Relatively, flying to Phaplu is a time saver idea. Then your trek starts from Phaplu. Driving to the trailhead lets you experience off-road driving on the mountain roads of Nepal. The road to Junbesi is a dusty adventure that intersects with the classical route to Everest Base Camp is various points. It is a scenic journey offering mountain views, interacting with the valleys, and several settlements of the lower Solukhumbu region.
