Trek Restricted areas with special Permits

Nepal’s government has put some mountain areas that share borders Tibet under Restricted or Controlled Areas. The government intends to preserve the culture and treasures of that area. However, all the parts of Nepal are now open for foreign visitors under prescribed regulations. But, trekking in those areas is still restricted areas trek in Nepal. To conduct trekking in these areas are available under strong rules and regulations. The trekkers willing to visit these areas need to obtain special trekking permits through a registered trekking company like Oriental Journeys Pvt. Ltd. Only the group trekkers can trek in the areas. Group means at least 2 people trekking together.

The government applies the regulation and controls the tourism activities in these areas to preserve the culture and nature of the areas and to keep cultural heritages alive. Especially, the areas of the Upper Dolpo, Rara, Mustang, Manang, Gorkha, Taplejung, etc are under controlled areas.

The controlled regions offer great views of the Himalayas ‘ live cultural heritages. The amazing beauty of great landscapes allures adventure trekkers from around the world. In past days, trekkers have no option of camping trekking. The recent construction has equipped some areas including the Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, and Mustang with basic lodges as well. It has eased the backpackers to chose these areas as of lodge/teahouse-based trek.

Major sections of these controlled/restricted areas are still unspoiled and visited by very few people. Visiting the remote lands of the area still makes you feel that you are strolling someplace outside this planet.
