Overview of Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

Mardi Himal Base Camp Trekking is a new and less busy hiking location in Nepal. It is a short and simple trip. In a short period of time, it has grown in popularity. The trail was first established in 2012, and it is still in excellent condition. This trip in the Annapurna range is considered off-the-beaten-path. Because compared to other peaks in the Annapurna range, Mardi Himal Base Camp has comparatively few visitors. The remoteness, the striking south face of the Mardi Himal, the Annapurna ranges, and Mt. Machhapuchhre are all highlights of this expedition. Aside from that, the trek’s main draw is the everyday lives of the local indigenous inhabitants, as well as the lush alpine woods.

Highlights of Mardi Himal Base Camp Trekking

  • Views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and other peaks are stunning.
  • Hike through rhododendron groves that are in full bloom (in March-April)
  • Take in a breathtaking vista of a simple hike that many tourists overlook.

Perfect viewpoints of Mardi Himal Base Camp Trekking Trail

The whole Mardi Himal hike path follows the ridge, providing spectacular views on all sides. The route’s campgrounds and rest stops, on the other hand, are at an ideal location in terms of landscape and surroundings. On the first day, you’ll drive via the lovely hamlet of Dhampus on your approach to Potana, taking in the spectacular mountain views to the north and east. In the same way, Austrian Camp, Pothana, Pitam Deurali, and Forest Camp are unmatched. You go to the high camp, taking additional steps to get a better view of Mt. Fishtail, popularly known as Machhapuchre. Your track appears to travel along the slope of Mt. Annapurna South from the summit of Badal Danda to Highcamp. The route continues to the Mardi Himal Base Camp the next morning, with a spectacularly beautiful view of the Annapurna massif and Madi river valley on the left and the Mardi Himal Base Camp on the right.

Mardi Himal Base Camp Trekking demands a good physical fitness

Because it is a short and simple journey, it has become a popular alternative for enthusiastic hikers who can walk for 4-5 hours each day. As a result, a few weeks of daily exercise and running ahead to trekking can help you improve your strength and stability. If you have previous hiking or trekking experience, it will be beneficial to you on the journey. The hike does not need any technical abilities because it is less difficult in nature. Participants with pre-existing medical issues, such as lungs, hearts, or blood illnesses, should seek medical advice before embarking on the journey to ensure their safety.

Best time for trekking

The optimum seasons to walk the Mardi Himal Base Camp are autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May). The weather is beautiful throughout this time, and the Himalayan vistas are spectacular. Winter (December, January, and February) is a good season to visit if you want to escape the crowds. However, the cold may be brutal at times throughout the winter. Rain will impede trekking throughout the summer and monsoon seasons.

 Level of Difficulty

The Mardi Himal trekking is one of Nepal’s short trekking programs. A moderate incline leads to the Forest Camp. The entire journey takes you through the forests to Badal Danda. The path from Badal Danda to High Camp is a gradual ascent along the ridge. The final leg of the trail from the high camp to the Mardi Himal Base Camp crosses a steep slope. When it’s pouring or snowing, you have to be extra cautious. As a result, the hike is easy to moderate in difficulty.

The downhill section, on the other hand, is more tough. The extra tension on your knees will be felt when the walk follows the suitable downhill course. A jogging practice or other basic physical training may help you finish the walk with a positive mindset.

Meals

You may eat traditional Nepalese food as well as Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, and other foreign cuisines. Breakfast and supper will be given by the tea-house or lodge where we will be staying for the night, while lunch will be served on the way to the next stop. During the hike, a full board meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided, with breakfast available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. In addition, the firm will provide a welcome or departure meal.

Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek - Accommodation

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will stay in a 3-star hotel for your Mardi Himal Trekking. Teahouses (lodges) with modest facilities will be your lodging. In Kathmandu, stay at the Thamel Eco Resort, Samsara Resort, or Hotel Thamel, or a similar grade hotel, while in Pokhara, stay at the Kuti resort. The lodging will be on a twin-sharing arrangement throughout. On request, however, a single supplement would be supplied. You must pay an additional fee for the single supplement. During the trip, Oriental Journeys will book the best available tea houses; nonetheless, the tea houses in Mardi Himal are inadequate. As a result, getting a single room during the walk might be challenging at times.
